mortgage.technology.conference.miami

At the beginning of this week I had the opportunity to go on a business trip to Miami for the Mortgage Technology Conference. I am pretty lucky that with my job I get to travel quite a bit and I love it. I love making the face to face relationships with the people you only converse with over email or conference call. But Miami was a little bit different then other conferences I have attended. For one I went all alone, which was good, but harder than I expected. Second it was a conference that was just starting up again, meaning it was really small and pretty unknown what to expect, but it was perfect for me. Third, I wasn't standing at a booth where people came to me, I was actually an attendee. I learned a lot and had to really put myself out there since I was alone. The only bad thing about this conference was that it was the first time Trevor and I had been away from each other since before we were married and it was hard. Trevor is everything to me and it is weird how much you start to rely on someone. I consider myself a pretty independent, confident woman, but I was so lonely my whole trip and it has been a long time since I have felt that way. Trevor was lonely too, extremely lonely! Haha. I just have to say that I am thankful for my job and the opportunities I have to succeed and grow as a professional and as a person. I also am so thankful for my husband he is everything to me and I love him so much.

Miami was hot and humid... I have decided I don't like humidity, especially when working out!

view from my hotel balcony... the conference was at the Marriott Doral Golf Resort & Spa

This is my PR/Business woman picture... I'm a nerd!

I had a long day of travel on Wednesday to make it back home to SLC. I flew out of Miami to Seattle and then back to SLC. It was long and stressful. My flight out of Miami was 45 minutes late and I was literally running through the Seattle Airport (not a very user friendly airport), jumping from train to train trying to make my flight. Luckily I did, even though I was the last person to board and I was sweating and hot and stressed, I still made it...not fun! Then back in SLC I made it on the plane, but my bag didn't, what an ordeal, but worth it in the end. By the way the gate I was in leaving Miami was the same one I was in on my way to Bolivia, kind of crazy! I thought it looked familiar then it clicked. Love the click

weekend.fun

Can you believe that it is already November?! I sure can't seems like Halloween came and went as fast as ever this year, but it sure was fun and we are so excited to get started with the holiday season and winter time. We had a pretty busy weekend in Park City! Friday night we went to dinner with my oldest and best friends at a place called Maxwell's! They have the best food and the best pizza. It was a blast to all be together, I love getting together with these girls and everyone else. After dinner we went to the Park City Ski Swap. It is a tradition to go every year... I have been going for as long as I can remember. Seems like it is getting bigger and bigger and it is kind of sad, not as many locals anymore. It was great though, Trev got a new snowboard, thanks to his wifey and I got some new gloves! We had a blast!
Jeremy, Liz, Jeff and Lauren

Matt, Natalie, Ali and Trevor

Trev setting up his new snowboard! He couldn't stop looking, touching or thinking about his snowboard once we got home from the swap! I love how he has to know every little thing that goes on with his board or the stuff he buys, it is one of his many talents!

Saturday was also a really busy day for us! My cousin Spencer was married in the Timpanogous Temple on Saturday and Trevor and I and my parents were invited to the ceremony. It was so fun to be at someone else's sealing and to hear the promises and ordinances you make all over again. On your own wedding day it turns into a blur, but I loved it! I honestly could not stop smiling! We also headed down to their reception later that night in Payson with my whole family!! It was so fun too see everyone, all of our babies are getting so big and so adorable! Trev and I are very blest to have so many adorable nieces and nephews we love them all! Anyways now it is Monday and another week of work is here... but hopefully more snow is on the way because Trev and I are very anxious to get out on the mountain! Can't wait for the season to start on November 19th right after I get home from Miami!

happy.halloween

Trevor and I had a great Halloween and it was the first in a long time that it wasn't snowing or raining. I just remember as a little girl it always snowed and I always had to cover my costume, it made me mad, I guess that's what I get for growing up in Park City. Well this year it was warm and we spent Halloween with Care and Amanda and the kids! It was a lot of fun and they all looked great! I made Trev and I costumes to be skeletons and I must say they turned out pretty great! I just love Halloween and getting all dressed up. Watching the kids run from house to house reminded me of when I use to run house to house with Liz and Lauren with our pillowcase, we made quite a haul each year. Oh those days, the three of us oh man! Haha! I hope everyone had a great Halloween and until next year yarrrr!!!

lots.of.festivities

Seems like Trev and I have been doing a lot of different festivities this month and especially the last couple of weeks! I love getting into the holidays, it makes it so much fun! I will say it is a lot more fun when you are married too and have your own little place to decorate and buy pumpkins for, this is what we did with only two of our pumpkins:

A couple weeks ago we went to the South Jordan pumpkin patch with Amanda, Coleman, Isaac, Brooklyn, Care, Frank, Lucy, Sophie, Tank, Owen and Mia. It was so much fun, I ended up picking out about 6 pumpkins for the two of us! Hahah I was a little bit excited. We had a blast and love hanging out with everyone. Lucy and I had fun picking out pumpkins with the perfect stem... It is all about the stem, my mother taught me that and it sure has stuck!

We also were able to watch Milo, Care and Frank's little dog, while they were on a family trip in Phoenix. Trev and I had a lot of fun playing, walking and cuddling with Milo! To be honest when we were done I was researching buying a puppy, but who am I kidding we don't have time for a puppy, so we will just have to watch Milo as often as we can! Thanks Linthorst's for letting us watch him

This summer I bought some coupons off City Deals to go miniature golfing with Amanda, coleman, Isaac and Brooklyn. So this past weekend we all went to Mulligans for some Haunted Mini Golf!! It was a blast oh and Trev and Coleman tried out the batting cages pretty cool!

As for this week I have been really sick with the flu and now Trev has it and is at home 'dying' all men are the same, but I am eager to get home and take care of him. Even in my sick state I was able to make some Pumpkin Chocolate Cookies for a Halloween party I wasn't able to go to... I must say they looked delicious, but I couldn't eat, no, no, no.

Oh I love Halloween!! Can't wait for Monday! We are going Trick-or-Treating with the Kiddies and we are going to be skeletons!!! (I wanted to be Danny and Sandy from Grease) oh well!

I love Trevor

the.windy.city.chicago

For the last five days Trevor and I have been in Chicago, exploring the windy city and as for me working hard! I went to Chicago for the Mortgage Bankers Associations Annual Conference & Expo and Trev was able to come a long. It was a lot of fun! Good food, great company (Erin & Dave), hard work, beautiful views, lake Michigan, shopping and parties. All in all WE LOVE CHICAGO!

We arrived Saturday and immediately met up with Erin and Dave who happened to be there the same time for the Chicago Marathon, which Erin rocked. We spent Saturday and Sunday with them and it was so much fun. They showed us the city, where they use to live and where Dave went to law school. We also had great food and shopping. We also got to watch Erin run the Chicago marathon, with 45,000 runners it was quite and event and so much fun. It did actually make running a marathon look fun! The cool thing about following Erin through the marathon was seeing the many different places/neighborhoods of Chicago, we went all around the city; it was a lot of walking, but we did get to ride the "L".

On Sunday night my conference started and my days were full of meetings with marketing/magazine/PR professionals and greeting new clients, existing clients and potential clients. It was a great show for IDS and a better turn out than last year.... could the mortgage industry be on an up swing? HA! After five days we are wipe and excited to be home to the beautiful fall weather in Utah. Here are some pictures of our adventure!

Waiting at the airport!!

View from the place we stayed with Erin and Dave on Saturday! Thank you so much!! Thank you to the Summers too! Such a great place they have

Lake Michigan

Downtown Chicago and the river

So cute! I love this picture!

Tribune Tower-- It has a piece of famous places all around the world whether it be natural monuments or great architecture! Look a piece of the Salt Lake Temple! How cool huh?! This building reminded me a lot of the way Westminster Abbey looks in London

Giant Marylin Monroe

Chicago Marathon, I believe we are at mile 16 here

Erin after the race! She looks amazing right?

Me and the bean- So cool at night

Navy Pier

IDS had a party on Tuesday night with one of our partners and it was on the 95th floor of the John Hancock building the view was absolutely amazing I could not get enough!

Another view!

Chicago was a blast! Trevor and I were able to spend a lot of time together doing spontaneous things around the city when I wasn't working! Of course we got deep dish pizza from Giordano's which I am so sad I didn't get a picture of the pizza! It is literally a pie! so good! We hope we can come back to Chicago lots, it is a great city!

two.months

It is still pretty surreal that Trevor and I are married and it has been two months today! Just last night we were on the couch and Trev turned to me and said "we're married" with a big grin on his face. It seems that sometimes it just hits you like a ton of bricks, I love it. We are as happy as clams, but I like as happy as can be better! Things are going great. We are both pretty busy with work, but Saturday we take off to Chicago for a few days because I have a work conference out there. It will be busy, but such a blast having Trevor there. Erin and Dave will be there because Erin is running the Chicago marathon on Sunday and we are way excited to hang out with them for a day or so! Well just a little post, I obviously didn't have anything more exciting then being married for two months, but to me that is the best!!!

welcome.october

For some reason Saturday I was feeling very domestic... First I cleaned our entire apartment, sweeping, swiffering, dusting, scrubbing, haning pictures and organizing. It felt good to kind of get things in order. Then I went on a long run, it was hot, but felt refreshing.... And since it is October and I love Halloween I was feeling especially festive. I met my mom at Costco during the Priesthood session and I saw these mini pumpkins on stems, I use to use them at the salon when I would decorate, I was so excited I got some for our apartmenet to start our Halloween/October decorating. I can't wait to get more stuff.

Trevor was especially excited about our new decor! I love him!

Well that's all for now

in.the.kitchen.cooking

Our apartment is old and the kitchen is small and the oven is minuscule compared to a normal stove. Our first Sunday dinner together in our new place was quite a disaster because of this and not because I am a bad cook, no no no! So after many under-breath complaints and constant mumbling I continue to cook in this kitchen and I have figured it out for the most part, but that does not stop me from complaining. So Tuesday night I decided I would try making some curry. I have never made curry, but I was willing to give it a shot, Trev and I both love curry. And guess what the result was?? CURRY! I was so proud at first I was nervous cause it doesn't look like the typical curry I get, but it tasted like curry and it was actually really good! Our house still smells like curry though. I took some pictures a long the way to give this post a little more 'spice' curry style of course.

Sorry the pictures wouldn't rotate even after I rotated and saved! Oh well you get the point!

matt.knoop.memorial.park

On Saturday was the dedication of the Matt Knoop Memorial Park! It was an incredible beautiful fall day in Park City and many old friends, neighbors and school teachers gathered together at the site where the Matt Knoop Memorial Park will be. I honestly can't think of a better way to keep Matt's spirit a live in the town he loved. Snyderville Basin Recreation has planned and will build the park in his memory. The park will feature a unique astro turf soccer field, a warm up field, picnic area, playground, bike trails and other things in order to accomodate for all ages and all interests, probably exaclty how Matt would want it. It was great to be at this place with old friends and the people I love most. All of them are so dear to my heart and represent exactly what my childhood was. Good thing my husband is usch a sweetheart and gets a long with everyone, I just love him! He is now a part of the Park City family too! Here are some images I stole from Laur, thanks for being our wonderful photographer.

Layout of the park!

The official ground breaking with Matt's parents and sister and Basin Recreation who is building the park.

All the old friends who were able to come!

slc.dew.tour

At the beginning of September Trev and I went to the Dew Tour and it was a lot of fun! I snag us some tickets on Groupon and we were pretty excited to go! We had a fun night- it is the best being able to just walk to the Energy Solutions Arena I love it, definitely one benefit of where we live. We went to the semi-finals for the street skate competition and it was so rad! Those guys are amazing and were pulling the coolest tricks in the all cement skateboard "park" that was set-up for their skate-jame! Trev and I had a really good time and I just love being able to do things like that with him. Here is the only photo of the night because that's all I was allowed to take!

Also here is the only evidence of out Vegas honeymoon and honestly it is pretty sad, but it was the only thing I really wanted to do while we were there so enjoy!
