At the beginning of this week I had the opportunity to go on a business trip to Miami for the Mortgage Technology Conference. I am pretty lucky that with my job I get to travel quite a bit and I love it. I love making the face to face relationships with the people you only converse with over email or conference call. But Miami was a little bit different then other conferences I have attended. For one I went all alone, which was good, but harder than I expected. Second it was a conference that was just starting up again, meaning it was really small and pretty unknown what to expect, but it was perfect for me. Third, I wasn't standing at a booth where people came to me, I was actually an attendee. I learned a lot and had to really put myself out there since I was alone. The only bad thing about this conference was that it was the first time Trevor and I had been away from each other since before we were married and it was hard. Trevor is everything to me and it is weird how much you start to rely on someone. I consider myself a pretty independent, confident woman, but I was so lonely my whole trip and it has been a long time since I have felt that way. Trevor was lonely too, extremely lonely! Haha. I just have to say that I am thankful for my job and the opportunities I have to succeed and grow as a professional and as a person. I also am so thankful for my husband he is everything to me and I love him so much.
Miami was hot and humid... I have decided I don't like humidity, especially when working out!
view from my hotel balcony... the conference was at the Marriott Doral Golf Resort & Spa
This is my PR/Business woman picture... I'm a nerd!
I had a long day of travel on Wednesday to make it back home to SLC. I flew out of Miami to Seattle and then back to SLC. It was long and stressful. My flight out of Miami was 45 minutes late and I was literally running through the Seattle Airport (not a very user friendly airport), jumping from train to train trying to make my flight. Luckily I did, even though I was the last person to board and I was sweating and hot and stressed, I still made it...not fun! Then back in SLC I made it on the plane, but my bag didn't, what an ordeal, but worth it in the end. By the way the gate I was in leaving Miami was the same one I was in on my way to Bolivia, kind of crazy! I thought it looked familiar then it clicked. Love the click
